Jour Fixe / Ylva Trapp

For the fifth edition of Jour Fixe, Ylva Trapp created a new site specific sound piece from the apartment. Homes have their own specific timeliness and their stories are woven by the people who over the years inhabit them. Trapp traces the independent existence of the rooms and evokes a moment of co-presence with the apartment’s possible past. By selecting and amplifying certain aspects of the place, she creates a situation that is bordering on the uncanny and takes the visitor centre stage.

Jour Fixe happens on selected Friday nights in Stockholm: a regular meeting of experiencing art, food, drinks and conversations at home. This edition of Jour Fixe took place in collaboration with UNDERVERK’s Season 1 – Hemmet.

Ylva Trapp, born 1981 in Uppsala, lives and works in Stockholm.

Studied Art in the Public Realm at Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm and Fine Art at the Art Academy in Umeå.

Her artistic work deals with the everyday appearances of poetry and politics. It can be in the close study of the absurd consequences caused by the shortage of housing or the subtle duplications of all the stains on a studio-floor. It can be done in the repeating of fractions of un-noticed body movements or the adding of 1:1 scaled drawing fitting into the environment.

Runs a moveable art space, Konsthall323, in a red Volkswagen Golf together with Frida Krohn. Collaborates in some work with Ellakajsa Nordström.

Jour Fixe / Ylva Trapp: 15 November

Welcome to the fifth edition of Jour Fixe. Jour Fixe happens on selected Friday nights in Stockholm: a regular meeting of experiencing art, food, drinks and conversations at home. This edition of Jour Fixe takes place in collaboration with UNDERVERK’s Season 1 – Hemmet.

For this occasion, Ylva Trapp has created new work deriving from the location where it is shown – the apartment.

Y.Hemma Sessions #2 Savouring

An encounter with food and visual creation at chef Yurie Hama’s home.

The combination of food and art can be a challenging and sometimes over-sophisticated and intimidating encounter, which often leaves no space for the genuine simple pleasure of experiencing something nice. This event is all about drawing this encounter back to an experience where taste – aesthetic and gustative – comes first, enhanced with the cosiness of being in the cook’s home.

A casual yet elaborate Japanese meal, inspired by the surrounding space and objects created by invited artists, will be shared among the guests along with traditional sake. The designed objects will be available for purchase giving the possibility to recreate the meal experience at home.

Collaborators:
Ivana Trump, Porcelain tableware
Izumi Sato, Cushion design
