T37

Since Oscar moved in to his apartment on Timmermansgatan 37 in Stockholm, he found himself constantly documenting the space and its contents. It was not until the autumn of 2012 he realised that his documentations were not just photographs of random stuff he had at home, but were instead a medium to understand himself, his surroundings and his relationship to his home better. When he realised this, he decided to move out of his apartment for six months to distance himself from that home in order to discover what that environment meant to him. In the exhibition T37 you could find his search for that meaning.

Oscar Poulsen, born 1981 in Stockholm, has a bachelors degree in media and communications from Stockholm’s University. He was a co-founder of the platform for young photographers called Vidvinkel Foto. Today only the Vidvinkel Magazine he produces remains. Oscar works as a professional photographer and teaches photography at Berghs School of Communication.

Season 1 — Hemmet: 18 Oct — 30 Nov

Starting this autumn on October 18th 2013, Underverk’s quarterly themed seasons will launch. Four seasons per year, each lasting about a month and a half. A new theme for each season.

The theme for Season 1 is Hemmet (The Home).

We have chosen to work with the concept of Hemmet as venue, due to the increasing amount of artists and designers initiating events and exhibitions at home. Why use the home instead of other galleries or other public spaces?

Underverk has invited artists, designers and food designers to participate in the program. Together with them we want to discuss what a home is, can be and why it is being used for artistic purposes.

By focusing on projects / works in the intimate setting of a home, we hope to create new ways of thinking in regards to place and environment in an artistic context.

We also want to investigate how the home, as an exhibittion space, affects the work being showcased, the experience and the conversation surrounding it.

The participating artists/designers will be released soon!
